Stefano Vavassori

SENIOR POST-DOC

Stefano was born in Bergamo, Italy, and carried out his undergraduate and PhD studies in Edinburgh, Scotland. He moved to New Jersey, USA, for his Post-Doc position at Rutgers University in the laboratory of Professor Lori Covey. He then moved to Basel, Switzerland as a Senior Scientist in the Laboratory of Professor Gennaro De Libero at the Department of Biomedicine, University of Basel.

 

He joined the lab since 2014 bringing expertise in cellular and molecular immunology, using in vivo and in vitro models. Hand on expertise in several immune based-analytical techniques is used by him to mechanistically understand the function of molecular components of the immune system, starting with clinical observations from patients suffering from inherited defects. Beside his active research, Stefano is part of PhD and Master student committees, actively guides PhD and undergraduate projects and support the development of immune based diagnostic assays.

 

Between 2014 and 2016 he has lectured in module BIO430-Immunology and since 2017 in BIO123-Quantitative and Molecular System biology at the University of Zurich.
